Petralon Energy Limited has announced the appointment of Uduak Equere as an Executive Director, effective January 2, 2026.
The appointment marks another milestone in the company’s continued expansion and strategic positioning within Nigeria’s independent oil and gas sector, recognising leadership that has consistently delivered value across commercial and corporate development, corporate finance, and operational excellence. Uduak will continue to serve as Chief Commercial Officer, and as an Executive Director of Petralon 54, a subsidiary of Petralon Energy, while also assuming expanded responsibilities at the group level.
He has been instrumental in Petralon’s operational milestones at the Dawes Island Field, bringing the field to sustained production, completing the DI-2 well, and drilling the DI-3 well, which comes onstream by the end of January 2026.
Before joining Petralon, Uduak built significant commercial and financial expertise across leading energy and investment institutions. He began his career at Vetiva Capital Management as an Investment Analyst, where he covered energy sector equities, shaped market perspectives on Nigeria’s oil, gas, and power sectors, and regularly appeared on CNBC Africa. His experience at Afren Plc further strengthened his deal execution capabilities, where he was part of teams that expanded the company’s asset base through large-scale acquisitions, mitigated material contingent liabilities, and optimised fiscal outcomes across joint venture assets. At Xodus Group Africa, he delivered petroleum economic assessments for significant upstream developments, including advisory work on Africa Finance Corporation–backed transactions spanning acquisitions and debt funding across Africa.
Uduak is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE) and completed the Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies programme at Stanford University’s Centre for Professional Development. Most recently, he completed the Accelerated Development Programme at London Business School, strengthening his readiness for more strategic leadership responsibilities. He holds an MBA in Finance from Imperial College Business School, London, and a B.Sc in Economics from the University of Uyo, where he graduated as Best Graduating Student in his department.
At Petralon, Uduak will continue to lead corporate development strategy, capital raising initiatives, new business development and acquisitions. Since January 2024, he has had bottom-line accountability for the strategic development of the company’s operated asset, the Dawes Island marginal field (PPL 259), overseeing drilling operations, asset management, regulatory engagement, and community relations. He continues to drive this critical initiative with a target of sustaining commercial production following the completion of the ongoing Extended well Test on the DI-2 well and drilling of the DI-3 well.
His appointment to the Executive Director role reflects the company’s confidence in his strategic vision and execution capability as Petralon advances its production growth ambitions, expands its asset portfolio, and strengthens its position as a competitive independent operator in Nigeria’s upstream sector.
